The ones behind the craft

In Andahuaylillas, Peru, Q’ewar offers Indigenous women a space to carry forward generations of artisanal knowledge.

Q’ewar is a women-led community where ancestral Andean craftsmanship is is protected, nurtured, and carried forward. Here, Indigenous women shape wool into figures that hold centuries of tradition: the colors of the mountains, the patience of handwork, the resilience of their families, and the stories of their ancestors.

Through fair work and cultural stewardship, Q’ewar empowers these artisans to sustain both their heritage and their livelihoods. Every doll crafted in their workshop is a living fragment of Peru’s cultural legacy. An artifact of identity, artistry, and the enduring strength of women.
